WHAT WILL ARGYLL ARRAY DO TO TIREE?

Here's an essential update on the proposed wind turbine farm off the coast of Tiree, courtesy of An Tirisdeach's online version:

The meeting heard how plans to site between 300 and 500 giant wind turbines (some up to three times the height of Skerryvore) between the land and the lighthouse would require major structural alterations to the Island including a building the size of a football pitch to house the equipment to convert the electricity when it comes ashore and up to 4,000 square meters of office buildings. TIREE 1OK 2011 DATE

The date for next years Tiree 10k is going to have to shift to the bank holiday at the start of May as the hall is booked up already for the end of May. Tiree 10k 2011 is therefore on Saturday 30th April 2011!!! Rest assured it will be a great weekend so put it in your diary and we'll hopefully see you all again in April next year.

Tiree vet becomes deputy lord lieutenant.

Tiree and Coll vet Patrick Boyd from Cornaigmore is the new deupty lord lieutenant for Argyll and Bute, suceeding Major Nicholas Maclean-Bristol of Coll who has held the position for the last 14 years.

A GREAT MAN IS NEVER APPRECIATED AT HOME
