Am I reading this right? In a recession most businesses/communities would be celebrating a 154% increase in visitors and working on sustainable ways of keeping them. Is this really locals or holiday home owners with self interest at heart?

Sounds like some view the RET as a having a negative impact so this should possibly be reformed to thin out visitors? There appears to be inordinate attention on campervans against other types of visitors and the ability of local services to cope with the total influx. EU Courts may view this as discriminatory when apportioning EU grants.

Would it would not be best to support more responsible visitors of all types rather than alienate one group and the bad press this may bring.

If I was an Islander I'd want to know that sound financial and environmental evidence is available to support controls rather than the judgements of a few.

This could be the thin end of the wedge.

I fully agree with anon's comments.Tiree was happy to take on the wind surfers and their cash without any output whatsoever for many years and we never saw any improvement on Tiree apart from that done by the surfers.Take a look at the public toilet (the only one)wouldn't let my dog in there, what must visitors think.while on the subject of cash can anybody tell us where the swimming pool fund cash went?
